Texas Legislature will not consider health insurance exchange

The 83rd Texas Legislature began this week, and lawmakers do not plan to support a healthcare exchange or plan to provide an alternative.
The Affordable Care Act mandates that states set up their own exchanges or use an exchange set up by the federal government.
Governor Rick Perry has already expressed that he will not push for a Texas-run exchange, and now Rep. John Smithee, Chair of the House Committee on Insurance has said that the expenses required is too high.
