President Barack Obama told the nation that he believes that the United States should get involved in Syria some way.
Tuesday morning Syrian diplomats agreed to cede their chemical weapons to international control, so they can be destroyed. They made this agreement with Russia.
Obama said the air strike is a possibility if Syria doesn't stay true to its agreement.
It's too early to tell if the latest diplomatic efforts will succeed, but there is now the possibility that Syria will be rid of chemical weapons "without force," Obama said.
He then asked Congress to hold off voting on the issue to see how Russia's proposal plays out.
No matter what Obama’s ultimate decision is he said he “will not put boots on the ground in Syria.”
