Fox has announced the modernized Judges Panel for the upcoming season of American Idol. Again. This season we are going to see, alongside veteran judge Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez.
Maybe the new panel will spark a much-needed increase in the show’s ratings. Season 12 faced some of the toughest ratings Idol has ever seen with the finale hitting an all time low. Many people blamed the drama going on behind the judging panel and pointed their condemning fingers at Nicki Minaj saying she had nothing valuable to offer and was a bad replacement.
However, the newly established trio, Urban, Connick, and Lopez have ignited excitement among the American Idol crew, especially the chairman Kevin Reilly. The new panel all are credible and have had very successful music careers. A positive, non-dramatic plus: they are not exactly hitting scandalous news lines every week. Now, the audience can focus more so on the contestants of the show and not be solely concerned with what color hair Nicki will have this week or if her and Mariah Carey will battle it out once again.
Happy judges, happy audience, and higher ratings.
