Over 22,000 Facebook and twitter users have retweeted, liked or shared satire website TheBeaverton.com's story about Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield getting ejected from a movie theater showing 'Gravity". The story claims that Hadfield was muttering under his breath about incorrect depictions of space travel and the dangers involved.
“Oh yeah, because that’s what hypoxia as caused by rapid cabin decompression looks like you idiots!.” said Hadfield according to the story;s fictional interviewee, Isabella Tremblay, before eventually being forced to leave the theater.
“The last thing I heard him yelling was, ‘Have you been to space? Because I’ve been to space!’” Another fictitious movie patron claimed was Hadfield's final outburst.
Fake news sites, and the people who believe the stories they post have spawned websites of their own, like http://literallyunbelievable.org/, which documents people posting TheOnion.com stories on Facebook as if they were real.
