The upcoming Elton John biopic has solidified its most important cast member, Tom Hardy, who most recently played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
Tom Hardy has proved himself as a versatile actor, playing widely different roles in only the past few years. Including his breakthrough performance as Eames in Inception, Forrest Bondurant in Lawless and his fantastically surprising performance in Batman: Dark Knight Rises.
The film will be directed by Michael Gracey, according to Deadline, and was written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, War Horse). The storyline follows young prodigy Elton John become the bestselling artist of his generation.
"Everyone knows and loves Elton John's music, but the true story of his life is so incredible that it can only be described as a fantasy," director Gracey said about the film earlier this year. "His journey from impossible dreamer to stardom and uncontrollable excess is something only a musical film can capture, and I'm so excited to be the one to tell his story."
The film will feature a number of the singers iconic hits re-recorded “to paralled the emotional beats of the film’. It is scheduled to shoot in autumn 2014.
