Sony joins the revamping game with Oliver Twist

Summit Studio's Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and Warner Brothers' Jack The Giant Slayer are the two most recent films that Hollywood has produced to revamp our childhood fairy tales into the untold stories of our favorite characters. Sony however is not wanting to stay out of the game for long as they are currently working on a project based on the classic Charles Dickens tale Oliver Twist.

"The new project is called Dodge & Twist, but rather than being an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name, this version is based on an idea by Ahmet Zappa, who produced The Odd Life of Timothy Green and has Museum of the Weird and Enchanted Tiki Room projects in development at Disney," according to Ethan Anderton.

While it is another story based on the beloved Dickens character, the project is not intended to follow the story line of the original tale. In fact, it's centered around a 19th Century jewel heist that pins Twist against his pick pocketing rival gone to the good side. Dodge.

The names of the cast and release date have not been released as of yet, but I feel that if they will want to get into the most recent fad of movies they will need to act soon.

With the revamp flicks being known to have mixed reviews on the whole, I'm curious to see how Sony will use this information to produce a great film. The question I have now is will audiences really want to see this?
