In this Jan. 7, 2013 file photo, Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai speaks during a news conference at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

According to an article on GameInformer.com, we could very well hear of the existence of the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles before E3 in June, and see their respective launches sometime within the holiday season. The analyst said that while there will be a lot of hype over what Microsoft and Sony bring to the table, the somewhat bland launch of Nintendo's Wii U could be a bit of foreshadowing towards the console's future success among its upcoming competitors.

There is and has been much speculation and predictions over when the next generation of consoles will launch. By this time, it is hard to really get excited or depressed depending on your personal feelings over having to afford upgrades to your current consoles, over anything but word from either Microsoft or Sony on whether or not they plan to release anything this year.

What we gamers do have, is a projected list of upcoming games that are planned for next gen consoles such as Star Wars 1313 and Dragon Age Inquisition. While you might say this again is purely speculation, some of these game developers have been rather blunt in saying that their work into the games is to prepare for a next gen launch sometime in the near future.

As for what the analyst had to say about the Nintendo's latest console, the WiiU, I haven't had the chance to test the system out for myself, but from reviews that I have read and personal accounts from people, I can see where the analyst is coming from. While there has hardly been an initial line up of video games coinciding with a console's launch that have been truly extraordinary, the WiiU has hardly had anything that has made it stand up from among the crowd. I feel as if its early entrance among the current gen consoles might be what hurts it in the future as the release of Microsoft and Sony's respective consoles cause it to be lost among the chaos.

Overall, all I can really say is that we only have but to wait for more news from either Microsoft or Sony until we can pass off any of this speculation as a truth.
