Famous Cult Classic could get another chapter

If you're an Evil Dead fan you may have to revamp your box set collection pretty soon, as director of the series, Sam Raimi, has decided to start working on a script this summer for Evil Dead 4 with his brother Ivan Raimi of Drag me to Hell and Army of Darkness.

But one might wonder after 21 years why add in a new installment? According to an interview with Bleeding Cool, it really wasn't Sam Raimi's idea to begin with.

I’m afraid that every time I talk about it people get really mad at me when I don’t follow through with it. I would like to work on the script over the summer, that much is true. But the reason to come back and do it again is only that they’re making me, those fans.

Regardless of the circumstances Ivan Raimi is on board with the idea and has told his brother as much.

I was saying to Ivan, “Why do they stay on this thing? Why do they keep at it?” and he said “They want to make a movie. You’re a filmmaker and your fans are asking you to make the movie. What are you, an idiot? Make the movie!”

So what can we expect from the duo? Well in the spring they are releasing a remake of the original Evil Dead, however the preview was considered to be too gory/profane and was pulled. But we can say, that it's following a different story line than the original series.

But will it be worth seeing?
