After seven years of waiting for news on the next addition to the Dreamfall series, fans were more than willing to help in any way they could to get the ball rolling through Red Thread Games' Kickstarter fundraiser.
With its original goal of $850,000 surpassed with still three weeks left of the fundraiser, the developer has now begun to stretch the goal with the intentions of rewarding the investors with each new goal reached. See examples of such rewards, as well as the full article on Joystiq.com.
As the second installment of the series left fans with a pretty large cliffhanger, it is exciting to see the Kickstarter reach such a high success that should guarantee a fantastic third game.
Red Thread has confirmed that players will not only retake the role of Zoe Castillo, but also April Ryan, finally revealing her fate from the latest installment.
Players can also expect to revisit the twin worlds of Stark, a science heavy cyberpunk reality, and Arcadia, a magical representation of the human world. In addition, Dreamfall Chapters will also provide a new setting known as Storytime, described by Red Thread as a "mysterious dreaming realm... where every story begins, and where dreams come to life."
As the Kickstarter goal continues to grow day by day, it seems pretty safe to say that Dreamfall fans can expect Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey to release around its projected date in November 2014.
