In this Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 file photo, director and actor Ben Affleck poses for photographers at the premiere of his film Argo in Washington, DC, USA.

Argo and Good Will Hunting are just two of the projects that Ben Affleck has had the privilege to be a part of throughout his career. However with so many of his other endeavors being lost to the Hollywood archives, will his latest project be swept under the rug?

His 1970s period piece, Argo, proved that Affleck has an affinity as a director in the genre. His Oscar-winning work leads him to be a good choice to direct another period piece based upon the upcoming book by Nathaniel Philbrick called "Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution."

But with the book not even hitting shelves until April 30, why would he already be deciding to direct the movie?

Well, according to filmschoolrejects.com, Warner Brother's Studios has already signed a six-figure deal to the movie rights of the book, which it is then passing on to Pearl Street Films, the production company owned by Affleck and Matt Damon. Not only has the deal been passed, but critics are already raving about the book saying "No one has told this tale better." and "Ingenious...A rewarding approach to a well-worn subject" according to the author's website.

Some may wonder if the 18th-Century story can even be told again with a new perspective or even be revived for today's silver screen. It's been 13 years since there was a successful American Revolution movie and if you remember correctly, The Patriot starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger, swept the Oscars that year.

So with a potentially great book and Affleck's drive to win the Best Director Oscar, what can we possibly expect from this endeavor? If you remember your history, the American Revolution was chock full of important figures; namely George Washington, Gen. William Howe and Paul Revere just to name a few. With so many strong personalities and people that need to be represented, Affleck has a lot of potential to pull together a star studded cast to retell the story of Bunker Hill.

With so much potential, I really have to say that this movie will be one to watch out for in the upcoming year.
