With all the iPhone hype that has been going on due to the recent iOS 7 update, Blackberry has taken a huge hit with decreases in its sales and share price, unsurprisingly. Blackberry is expected to cut down its workforce and layoff a whopping 40 percent of employees by the end of the year. The layoffs will "cut across departments and will occur in waves," according to CNN.
Lisette Kwong, spokeswoman for Blackberry, has said the company is not commenting on any "rumors" just yet. She did however express that they are in a transitional phase, and they will do whatever it takes to make sure the right people are in the right roles. Wonder what that insinuates?
Just last month, Blackberry made a comment saying it was considering "strategic plans" for the company and its future, which could potentially mean selling, according to the Verge.
With competitors like Apple, Android and Windows, Blackberry has struggled to maintain its once technological dominance over the business world.
Could we see a future sell coming in the very near future for Blackberry? Quite possible. However, the world of smart phones might not view it as a very big loss.
