As most fans were left hanging on to the edge of their seats due to the intense cliff hangers and gripping turn of events in their favorite shows as they were taken off the air during the holiday break, their wait has finally come to an end.

Fans will finally discover who killed who, the motive for the killing, or the reason for the epic plot twist that took place.

“I hated the hiatus because it was too long. I missed all my shows,” Sam Houston State University senior Ani Brown said. “I wanted to watch my shows while I was on break with nothing to do.”

“American Horror Story” is among the many shows that Brown watches, and she was more than delighted when a new episode returned to FX. Along with “American Horror Story,” ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Lairs” and “Ravenswood” also will return after the break.

The CW is also expected to have big returns with long-time fan favorites such as “Supernatural,” “Arrow” and “The Carrie Diaries” have all returned to the weekly line up.

A show much newer to the channel, “The Originals,” a spin-off from “The Vampire Diaries,” returned Tuesday and definitely quenched the thirst of the vampire fans have long awaited. Although it was a mind-boggling episode, fans will have to wait another week for an update on “The Vampire Diaries.”

“They left off with a cliff hanger which is a major teaser. I need more,” SHSU sophomore Danielle Shaw said. “I usually get a double dose of the vampire action a week, which makes the anxiety of waiting more bearable. I have to wait longer than normal, and that is not cool.

The CW’s “Reign” also returns next week following “The Vampire Diaries.” “Reign” has become quite popular since airing in October, with each episode receiving at the very least 1.5 million views. “Reign” also just took away the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama.

Another returning show picking up a People’s Choice Award is ABC’s “Super Fun Night.” The show won Favorite New Comedy, and the lead, Rebel Wilson, was nominated for Favorite New TV Actress. Some other comedies returning to the mix are ABC’s “Modern Family” and ABC Family’s “Baby Daddy” and “Melissa Joey.”

NBC has recently picked up some momentum with its new drama, “Dracula.” It’s received fairly decent ratings since airing in October, and is expected to go out with a bang once the season is over.

“I actually haven’t watched it [Dracula] yet, but it’s been on my list of shows to watch,” said Brown.

One thing is certain: the ending of the winter hiatus means the end of bitter long and irritating cliffhangers and plot twists. Shows are finally back and be staying for a while. Fans will finally get the chance to the see what will unravel throughout the season.
